What JobWhip is
JobWhip is a small, independent site built around six career and salary calculators, a blog and learn section, and a self-contained museum on the history of work. There’s no company behind it and no client list — just tools meant to answer one practical pay or job-search question at a time.
The tools
The Salary to Hourly Calculator converts pay between annual, monthly, weekly, daily, and hourly figures in one table. The Take-Home Pay Calculator estimates a net paycheck from a gross salary using a combined effective tax rate. The Pay Raise Calculator turns a raise percentage or target salary into the dollar difference per paycheck. The PTO Accrual Calculator projects a paid-time-off balance against a cap. The Freelance Hourly Rate Calculator works backward from a target take-home to a recommended hourly and day rate. And the Job Offer Comparison Calculator lines up two or three offers side by side, adjusted for cost of living.
How they work
Each calculator is a plain client-side form: enter numbers, get a result, nothing saved on our end. The math behind it is ordinary payroll and pay-conversion arithmetic — pro-rating an annual figure across weeks and hours, applying an effective tax rate, compounding a raise percentage — not a black-box model or a call to a third-party service.
Where the numbers come from
The formulas follow common, publicly documented pay and payroll conventions — standard weeks-per-year, hours-per-week, and accrual-rate math — rather than any proprietary dataset. Tax and take-home figures use a single effective rate you set yourself, because real withholding depends on your employer, jurisdiction, and filing status: the calculator is a planning estimate, not a paycheck.
The museum
The Museum of Work & the Workplace is a separate, browsable timeline covering the trades and factories of the industrial era, the tools of the working day, the labor movement, and the modern office. Every entry, image, and fact in it is drawn from Wikipedia and Wikimedia Commons and credited at the source.
The blog and learn section
Alongside the calculators, the blog and learnsection cover job hunting and applications, resumes and interviews, career growth, hiring trends, and salary — written to be used quickly, not padded out.
Straight talk about ads & advice
JobWhip is advertising-supported: display ads cover hosting and the time it takes to build and maintain the tools. The site has no affiliation with any employer, payroll provider, or standard it references. Nothing here is professional career-counseling, legal, HR, financial, or tax advice — the calculators are estimates from the numbers you enter, and a decision that matters is worth checking with your employer, a payroll or HR professional, or a qualified advisor.
